Alice and the Gate at 02:20
Follow the White Rabbit… right into a database.
The browser was open. The clock kept moving. The rabbit had promised a door, but behind it waited one error after another. Alice did not stop looking.

What actually worked
A real test on the hosting server confirmed PHP execution, the PDO MySQL driver, a successful database connection and a read of white_rabbit_votes. The table had first been created in phpMyAdmin.
No secret credentials or personal login details are included in this publication.
What the rabbit whispered
“The door was never made of zeros and ones,” said the imagined White Rabbit. “It was made of patience, a missing character and the courage to look twice.”
A little Alice-inspired fiction accompanies an actual technical debugging session. It does not establish that reality is a computer simulation.
The trail through the rabbit hole
- The first key · A database existsMariaDB 11.4 was created. phpMyAdmin required the user login, not the database name.
- The empty room · A real table
white_rabbit_voteswas created with an SQL import. Zero votes means zero recorded votes, not a failure. - The locked door · 403 ForbiddenDirect web access to the private PHP configuration was blocked as intended. The restriction protects the configuration but does not itself prove the application works.
- The false turns · 1044 and ParseErrorSafe diagnostics exposed a configuration syntax problem and a database-access error without publishing credentials. The configuration was corrected privately.
- 02:20 · The gate openedThe read-only check finally reported
DB_CONNECTION=OK,TABLE_READ=OKandRESULT=OK. - The final test still to comeBefore declaring public voting fully tested: GET the API, cast red, switch to blue, clear the test vote and confirm all counts return as expected.
Two choices. No magic odds.
The red pill means a wish for the exact seven-number match. The blue pill means a wish for no exact match. Neither affects any random lottery draw.
One active ballot per browser token and draw is a design constraint, not a verified one-person-one-vote system. Clearing cookies or using other devices can enable additional votes.
